COURSE OVERVIEW
Computer Application in Petroleum Engineering (Pet 516), is a course that will give students an overview of programming languages and its application to solving familiar Petroleum Engineering problems. This course focuses on two languages; while the former is old and possibly outdated, it is still relevant and teaches the foundation upon which most modern programing languages are built. The latter is a modern high-level language for general purpose programming and is also a key focus in this course. This course will consist of the following Sections/Modules for both programing languages:
- Introduction
- Modular programming
- Basic concepts
- Basic program structures
- Function/subprograms
- Practical challenges and solutions
This course was designed by Engr. Dr. Nnaemeka Ohia. All instructors associated with this course, will act as facilitators for the discussion boards.

None.
TIME COMMITMENT
1 – 2 hours per week.

GRADING SCHEME
All activities are due to be completed by December 2024, 22:30 GMT. Your weekly online learning activities will be monitored and graded (100% weight in final score). You need to score 70% or higher to pass the course and receive a certificate from OYLex. You can check your progress by selecting the “Progress” tab
