OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Prepare estimates for construction projects
- Carryout the costing of construction works
- Give cost advice to designers and the client at the design stage of a project.
- Extract, calculate and compile schedule of materials, labour and plant items required in construction.
- Be able to rationally price the preliminary bill items of projects.
COURSE OUTLINE
- Sources of information for pricing of construction projects
- Factors influencing construction costs
- Approximate methods of estimating
- Cost control procedure at pre-contract stage of a construction project
- Schedules in construction
- Preparation of schedule of materials, labour and plant
- Contractor’s estimating problems in unit price and retrieval of data.
- Preliminaries in construction projects.
This course was designed by Surv. Promise I.C. Onyekwena. All staff associated with this course, will act as facilitators for the discussion boards.

None.

1 – 2 hours per week.

All activities are due to be completed by August, 6th 2018, 22:30 GMT. You’ll be graded on weekly activities (100% weight in final score) You need to score 70% or higher to pass the course and receive a certificate. You can check your progress by selecting the “Progress” tab
