COURSE OVERVIEW
“Fire Engineering” This course covers the fundamentals of Prescriptive and Performance based fire engineering studies, including laboratory classes, fire safety engineering and relevant structural engineering topics, such as introduction to finite element modelling of structures under fire conditions.
Students will gain knowledge of the critical issues in structural fire safety engineering, and an understanding of relevant fire and structural behaviours. They will become familiar with performance-based approaches to design and have an awareness of the capabilities – and limitations – of relevant advanced modelling methods for structures and fire.
This course was designed by Bldr Uche Onwuegbuchulem from the Department of Building, SOES, FUTO. All staff associated with this course, including the TAs will act as facilitators for the discussion boards.
