COURSE OVERVIEW
The “ Construction Measurements I” is aimed at imparting the students with the knowledge of the various construction measurements. The following will be taught in this course:
COURSE OUTLINE
- About the Course
- Historical background of Quantity surveying: origin of quantity surveying in Nigeria.
- Functions of professional quantity surveyor and other professionals, functions of the contractors QS
- History and objectives of the NIQS and QSRBN
- Introduction into the mechanics of measurement.
- Functions of a Bill of Quantity, principle of taking-off, abstracting and billing.
- Introduction to cost estimation.
This course was designed by Mr Lazarus Nwankwo, Department of Quantity Surveying, SOES, FUTO. All staff associated with this course, including the TAs will act as facilitators for the discussion boards.
PREREQUISITES
None.
TIME COMMITMENT
1 – 2 hours per week.

GRADING SCHEME
All activities are due to be completed by May, 6th 2019, 22:30 GMT. You’ll be graded on weekly activities (100% weight in final score) You need to score 80% or higher to pass the course and receive a certificate. You can check your progress by selecting the “Progress” tab
