COURSE OVERVIEW
The course “Structural Mechanics” is aimed at imparting the students with the knowledge of the mechanics of different structures, its various methods,and general history of surveying. The following will be taught in this course:
COURSE OUTLINE
- Force in a plane concurrent, and Non-concurrent
- Force system in space
- Force body diagram (FBD)
- Friction in respect to force
- Kinetics or rigid bodies and parallels
- Laws of motion and equilibrium
- Impulse in momentum
- Centre of gravity, moment of inertial and other particle of section.
This course was designed by Bldr Emma Nkeleme, Department of Building, SOES, FUTO. All staff associated with this course, including the TAs will act as facilitators for the discussion boards.
PREREQUISITES
None.
TIME COMMITMENT
1 – 2 hours per week.

GRADING SCHEME
All activities are due to be completed by May, 6th 2019, 22:30 GMT. You’ll be graded on weekly activities (100% weight in final score) You need to score 80% or higher to pass the course and receive a certificate. You can check your progress by selecting the “Progress” tab
