COURSE OVERVIEW
The “Structural Theory and Design III” is aimed at imparting the students with the knowledge of structural theories and design. This is a 2 units course. The course outline is as follows:
- Structural analysis of deflections
- and other structural characteristics using methods of matrix algebra/stiffness.
- Analysis of plane frame; design of shells, domes, folded plane structures etc.
- Plastic analysis;
- Uniqueness, upper bound and lower bound theorems;
- Collapse mechanisms of frames;
- Affine Transformations;
- Yield Line Analysis of slabs.
This course was designed by Uche Onwuegbuchulem from the Department of Building, SOES, FUTO. All staff associated with this course, including the TAs will act as facilitators for the discussion boards.
PREREQUISITES
None.

1 – 2 hours per week.

GRADING SCHEME
All activities are due to be completed by May, 6th 2019, 22:30 GMT. You’ll be graded on weekly activities (100% weight in final score) You need to score 80% or higher to pass the course and receive a certificate. You can check your progress by selecting the “Progress” tab
